Gallery Blooms Faux Suede Technique

 WOW!
This is a pretty card that I got in mail this week from Stampin' Up!
It is signed by Sara & the corporate team!
 ðŸ’–
How blessed I am!
They are congratulating me on some milestone accomplishments.
As this week I celebrate my 23rd Stampin' Up! Anniversary!
I never ever dreamed that when I signed up as a demonstrator that
I'd still be lovin' it & stamping 23 years later!!

A HUGE "THANK YOU" to all that stamps with me!!!
I so treasure our time together creating!
And I look forward to stamping with you in the coming weeks, months & years!
The Faux Suede technique was done on this Smoky Slate piece of card stock
that the stemmed flowers are stamped onto.

How to do the Faux Suede Technique-

You can use any type of card stock so long as the card stock does not have a white core- as the card stock need to have been dyed all the way through.

  1. Use a bone folder repeatedly to soften the card stock.
  2. Crumple the card stock so that there are plenty of creases.
  3. Straighten card stock out and use a bone folder to further break down the fibers of the paper until the edges split.
  4. Carefully separate the layers to expose the core which will look like suede.
  5. Crumple it again to re-enforce the creases.
  6. You can stamp on it or leave it plain.

Tip : Apply adhesive to the card base rather than the back of your faux suede piece because it will be too delicate at this stage and may tear.  It is okay if the edges get slightly torn or ripped, as this adds to the distressed grungy look.
