Gallery Blooms Faux Suede Technique

 WOW!
This is a pretty card that I got in mail this week from Stampin' Up!
It is signed by Sara & the corporate team!
 ðŸ’–
How blessed I am!
They are congratulating me on some milestone accomplishments.
As this week I celebrate my 23rd Stampin' Up! Anniversary!
I never ever dreamed that when I signed up as a demonstrator that
I'd still be lovin' it & stamping 23 years later!!

A HUGE "THANK YOU" to all that stamps with me!!!
I so treasure our time together creating!
And I look forward to stamping with you in the coming weeks, months & years!
The Faux Suede technique was done on this Smoky Slate piece of card stock
that the stemmed flowers are stamped onto.

How to do the Faux Suede Technique-

You can use any type of card stock so long as the card stock does not have a white core- as the card stock need to have been dyed all the way through.

  1. Use a bone folder repeatedly to soften the card stock.
  2. Crumple the card stock so that there are plenty of creases.
  3. Straighten card stock out and use a bone folder to further break down the fibers of the paper until the edges split.
  4. Carefully separate the layers to expose the core which will look like suede.
  5. Crumple it again to re-enforce the creases.
  6. You can stamp on it or leave it plain.

Tip : Apply adhesive to the card base rather than the back of your faux suede piece because it will be too delicate at this stage and may tear.  It is okay if the edges get slightly torn or ripped, as this adds to the distressed grungy look.

Here are the supplies & measurements for this card.
stamp set:  'Gallery Blooms' (stemmed flowers) & 'Beautiful Motifs' (words)
card stock:
  • Thick Basic White- 4 1/4 x 11"- score at 5 1/2" & fold in half for card base
  • Two Toned Basic Black CS- 3 1/2 x 4 1/2"- emboss using the Damask Designs Embossing Folder & then sand the embossed images so that they are white.
  • Smoky Slate- 3 x 4"- distress & do the Faux Suede Technique on this.  Then stamp the stemmed flowers onto it using Memento Black ink.
  • Petal Pink- 1/2 x 1 3/4"- stamp words onto for card front
ink:  Memento
Stampin' Write Marker:  Basic Black- to "FLICK" black dots around the stemmed flowers
other:  Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine; Damask Designs Embossing Folder; Antique Pearls; dimensionals
Non- SU!: Sanding block

I hope you have a MARVELOUS Monday!
Happy Stamping!

Happy Father's Day!

Today I am wishing all of the dad's out there a very
"Happy Father's Day"!
I hope they all enjoy & celebrate on their special day!

For today's card I made some simple cards for the "dads" in our family.
I hope they like it!
Check out the Aluminum Foil Tape I embossed & adhered to my card front.
I bought it at a local hardware store!
It is already sticky on the back side.
Isn't this neat!
So you could emboss it with any type of embossing folder.
OR you could even die cut images out of it too!
Today is a bitter sweet day!
I'm so thankful & blessed to have these special "dads" in our lives-
Deke, Nathan, Steve & Deke's dad- David.
And I'm so sad that my dad isn't here any longer for us to celebrate him.
As it was 19 years ago today (yes on Father's Day) that we found my dad dead.
I still miss him tons.
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish he was still here with us.
It was such a great guy!
 +++++++++++++
Here are the supplies & measurements for today's simple card-
stamp set:  'Trusty Tools'
card stock:
  • Azure Afternoon- 5 1/2 x 8 1/2"- score at 4 1/4" & fold in half for card base
  • Azure Afternoon- 4 1/4" strip- stamp & die cut hammer- cut top of it off & adhere the bottom to the Smoky Slate Hammer base
  • Basic White- 3 1/2" strip- die cut circle from Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Basic White- 4 1/4" strip- die cut stitched label banner from Stylish Shapes Die
